Speedy the hamshark fur suit
OK....Time to blow the dust off my LJ and make another post.
Most of my furry buddies have heard me speak of the new fursuit I am constructing. His character name is Speedy J Hamshark, an old Role play character of mine. His basic story line is, he is a defenseless hamster ...or was until he bumped into sharky and was trained to be a shark! So now he thinks he is shark, dresses like a shark and acts (as much as he can) like a shark. He started out as a joke on day in a role play, but over the years he has gained some popularity in the chat rooms that I use.
Because of the success of this character (and the sheer fun to play) the next logical step was to bring him into the real world, with the creation of his fur suit. I have been working my tail fin off on the mask for 2 months now, and put the last finishing touches on it yesterday. (Yaaaaaa)
The suit will be full body, complete with his shark accessories. He will have a body harness on that will support the pectoral fins, tail fin and his fake shark dentures. His hand paws will slip into the back of the pectoral fins to give the illusion that he has fins. His shark teeth will be constructed in a bear-trap style jaw that will be removable when he is not in his shark mode.
His color scheme is that of a golden hamster, light brown fur with white mixed in on the chest, neck and paws. The mask cooling is done with CPU fans mounted in the head that suck in cool outside air thru his nose. The hot air is then expelled out of the mask with two ear fans that blow outwards into the ear base. (AKA Chimney style). This a process that we spoke about in my fur suit panel at 2006 AC. (Thanks to Ratpack)
I am currently constructing the foot paws and hand paws. After they are complete I will begin work on the full body suit. My goal is to have him ready for the October Halloween romp at Glen Echo Park, at the end of next month. His first fur con showing will be MFF in November, where he will be doing a skit with my good friend Carson Cougar (AKA Wally wolf).
I have posted pictures of his construction on my snap fish site. If you wish to view them please visit
